Mississippi No Longer Singing the Blues
Good news for operators traveling through Hattiesburg/Laurel Regional Airport (PIB) in Mississippi. Avflight Corporation announced on Wednesday that it has moved into a brand-new terminal at the airfield, which was funded by the FAA’s Airport Infrastructure Grant and took about 18 months to complete. The 5,300 sq. ft terminal features a lobby, a conference room with seating for six, a dedicated pilot lounge and tailored concierge support. The pilot lounge has recliners, a large-screen television, a flight planning area with desks, bistro-style seating and a private snooze room.
Guests will have access to eight 10,000 sq. ft hangars, multiple of which feature 27 ft doors that can accommodate aircraft up to the size of a Gulfstream G550. The airfield has an additional 10 hangars and 20 covered pull-throughs.
“This new terminal represents a significant investment in the Hattiesburg community,” said Garrett Hain, Avflight VP of finance. “Thanks to Hattiesburg/Laurel Regional Airport, Avflight is proud to operate within this exceptional new facility, delivering the elevated service and seamless experience our guests have come to expect.”
Avflight also states that it recently invested in a new fuel storage system at the airfield. It can house up to 24,000 gallons of jet fuel, 10,000 gallons of avgas, 550 gallons of diesel and 550 gallons of unleaded automotive fuel. This, and the new facility, is a ground service upgrade for anyone operating in the Gulf Coast and central Mississippi region. Operators can expect to see additional new regional FBO terminals funded through FAA infrastructure grants as smaller airports compete for turbine traffic.
