U.S. Carriers Suspend More Middle East Service

American Airlines and United Airlines have paused more routes to the Middle East in addition to their suspended service to Tel Aviv, Israel, the carriers confirmed to BTN.

American has suspended service between Philadelphia and Doha, Qatar, until June 22. The last flight on the route to operate was June 19.

“We will continue to monitor the situation with safety and security top of mind and will adjust our operation further as needed,” American wrote in an email statement. The carrier’s New York-Tel Aviv service has been suspended since October 2023.

United has suspended its daily flight between Newark Liberty International Airport and Dubai “due to conflict in the region,” the carrier wrote in an email. “United will continue to monitor the situation and will work to assist our customers through this disruption.” The carrier did not provide an end date for the suspension and had already suspended its New York-Tel Aviv flights.

Delta Air Lines last week announced it had suspended its New York-Tel Aviv flights through Aug. 31.

Some Middle East air spaces and airports closed last week after Israel launched airstrikes on Iran. Since then, some regional airports have reopened.
