Thrust Carbon has developed an AI tool to communicate more clearly the carbon emissions impact of a flight and possible actions to mitigate it, the company announced.
With Thrust Carbon’s TripsAI tool, travelers can forward flight booking confirmations, and the tool will use AI to provide trip emissions calculations and sustainability recommendations instantly to their inbox. The tool “clearly communicates the emissions in an understandable way,” such as showing how a flight compares with other flights and classes of service on the same route, detailing aircraft information and showing potential savings if a flight is switched in an equivalent measurement such as number of lattes, according to Thrust Carbon.
That information can help add understanding to carbon calculations presented at the point of booking or in post-trip reporting, which the company said can be difficult to understand without proper context. “Consider trying to understand the value of a currency without any conversion rates,” according to Thrust Carbon.
