The D-Day Squadron announces 2024 Europe mission theme and DVD release of documentary

In commemoration of Veteran’s Day, the D-Day Squadron has announced the theme for the upcoming return to Europe in 2024: 2024 Legacy Tour. This announcement coincides with the shared release of “Into Flight Once More” on DVD and Blu-Ray for purchase by D-Day Squadron and Sound Off Films.

The D-Day Squadron announced at EAA AirVenture in July a plan to return to Europe for the 80th anniversary of D-Day in France and the 75th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift in Germany. In 2019, D-Day Squadron took a fleet of 15 WWII-era DC-3s to England, France, and Germany. Following this, the squadron has been present at many flyovers, aviation events and warbird airshows.

D-Day Squadron Officially Launches the DC-3 Society

“In 2019, our focus was to remind people how World War II veterans more than 75 years ago fought for our freedom, liberties and served, where many lost their lives so we may live,” said the chief pilot and director of operations, Eric Zipkin. “In 2024, with so few World War II veterans with us, we will recreate the journey to Europe and fly each commemoration to protect their ‘Legacy,’ to never forget what these veterans meant to each of us, and our world history.”

The D-Day documentary of the 2019 mission was directed and produced by Emmy nominee Adrienne Hall, in her feature documentary directorial debut. This film was narrated by Academy Award ® nominee and veterans’ advocate Gary Sinise (1995 Best Actor in a Supporting Role). This cinematic memento for veterans is now available in Blu-ray and DVD formats.

Plans for the next mission have begun with the help of a volunteer committee of experienced professionals. The committee oversees the organization of the upcoming event as well as managing logistics to achieve a mission that will honor and commemorate WWII veterans. The committee is aided by corporate and individual partners, donors and supporters to bring about a successful mission.
