StandardAero expands West Coast bizav MRO capabilities, acquiring Western Jet Aviation

StandardAero announced on Thursday that it has acquired Western Jet Aviation.
Western Jet Aviation is a business jet maintenance company specializing in Gulfstream aircraft. Located at one of the busiest business aviation airports in the world, Van Nuys Airport (VNY) this location is the 12th acquisition for StandardAero since 2015. Western Jet Aviation also has a facility at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF).
The latest acquisition expands the footprint for StandardAero to over 120,000 feet of hangar, shops and office space on ten acres. The company has built a team of nearly 100 aviation professionals. This acquisition is the first that focuses on airframe/non-engine work, in the company’s recent history.
Western Jet Aviation is a certified repair station that offers tip-to-tail maintenance and interior services for GIV and G200 through G650. It also offers heavy avionics support on popular business aviation aircraft.
The maintenance company offers customers many AOG and scheduled maintenance services, including airframe inspections, engine and APU troubleshooting, part sales, diagnostics and repair, wood repair and interior soft goods modifications, and major structural repairs. The avionics install shop serves many major jet platforms. These platforms vary, including comprehensive cockpit and cabin management system upgrades, in-flight connectivity installations, troubleshooting, annual certifications, field support and OEM extended warranty programs.
Western Jet Aviation is FAA and EASA certified and OEM licensed with capabilities to provide upgrades and modifications to customers, like StandardAero. The newly acquired maintenance company provides line maintenance on Rolls-Royce Tay, Spey, BR710 and BR725 engines and services, Honeywell 36 series and RE220 series APUs.
“Western Jet Aviation’s broad range of business aviation MRO capabilities expands our facility footprint, customer base, geographic reach and repair portfolio to facilitate continuing growth for StandardAero,” Chairman and CEO of StandardAero Russell Ford said. “Organizationally, Western Jet Aviation will be aligned with our Business Aviation division and we warmly welcome the Western Jet Aviation team to StandardAero.”
“After nearly 50 years in aviation, it was time for me to pass the reins,” Western Jet Founder Jim Hansen said. “We have accomplished so much at Western Jet, but it was also time to find the right partner to help Western Jet go to the next level. StandardAero is the perfect partner to help this company do just that. I am thrilled for the employees and for the future of this company.”
