NetJets partners with Starlink to to bring high-speed connectivity to fleet
NetJets has announced that it has partnered with Starlink to bring in-flight wifi to approximately 600 aircraft in its global fleet by the end of 2026.
The company plans to quickly begin installing Starlink on aircraft based in the U.S. and Europe. It will be installed on Cessna Citation Latitudes, Embraer Praetor 500s, Cessna Citation Longitudes, Bombardier Challenger 350s, Bombardier Challenger 650s, and the entire Bombardier Global fleet in the U.S. It will also be installed on Bombardier Challenger 650s and Bombardier Globals in Europe.
Starlink uses LEO satellites to provide connectivity in areas where traditional wi-fi may not work, such as over water. It has over 8,000 satellites in orbit and can provide in-flight internet at speeds up to 500 Mbps.
“This agreement with Starlink positions NetJets to continue delivering exceptional travel experiences for our Owners and their guests,” said NetJets Aviation president, Patrick Gallagher. “With Starlink, travel is elevated with reliable connectivity whether our Owners are flying for business or leisure—as seamless connectivity is critical to the experience our Owners need and deserve.”
NetJets extended its agreement with Gogo Business Aviation on Feb. 7, 2024 to upgrade its fleet with Gogo AVANCE L5, Gogo 5G and Gogo Galileo. The agreement was supposed to be expanded by 10 years. There has been no statement on whether the partnership remains.
