A Learjet 45 overshot a runway while landing last week in Arkansas before bursting through the airport fence. It ultimately came to a stop about 15 feet short of a state highway.
The two crewmembers were taken to a local hospital but are expected to survive, according to local media. There is no indication that any five passengers on board suffered a serious injury.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. Central Standard Time on Nov. 29 at Batesville Regional Airport (BVX) in Batesville, Arkansas. According to the FAA, the flight was filed as an on-demand part 135 flight operated by Fayetteville, Arkansas-based Jett Aircraft.
The company’s website indicates that it provides charter operations using Learjet 40 and Learjet 45 aircraft. Online records show the flight involved in the incident originated at Waterloo Regional Airport (ALO) in Iowa.
A representative for Jett Aircraft issued a statement to GlobalAir.com by email Monday, saying in part: “The company is assisting state and federal agencies with their investigations, and it would not be proper to comment at this time.”
