The nominations for the 2023 Flight Instructor Hall of Fame inductees are now open. Nominations will be accepted until April 1, 2023.
The Flight Instructor Hall of Fame is administered by the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) to showcase the individuals who have made significant contributions to aviation education and flight instruction.

The Hall of Fame is meant to highlight the importance of flight instructors for a foundation of safety in the national air transportation system. NAFI oversees the process but does not take part in the judging.
“It is important to note that the Flight Instructor Hall of Fame is not a NAFI award, rather we administer the program on behalf of the entire aviation and flight training community,” NAFI Director of Program and Hall of Fame administrator John Niehaus said. “To maintain the integrity of the program, the judges represent a wide array of aviation professionals.”
The judges for the Flight Instructor Hall of Fame include:
Greg Brown is a retired U.S. Marine Corps aviator and the current director of education and training services at the Helicopter Association International.

Col. Julie Tizard is a retired U.S. Air Force instructor and former Part 121 instructor pilot.

Tom Turner is the Executive Director of the American Bonanza Society Air Safty Foundation and a former Hall of Fame inductee.

Britney Tough is a board member of Women in Aviation and an experienced flight instructor.

Barry Schiff is a former Part 121 instructor pilot, a celebrated AOPA author and a former Hall of Fame inductee.
