F-35 wows crowds on opening day, Sun ‘n Fun TV interviews Demo Team commander

At the 49th annual Sun ‘n Fun opening day, Major Kristin “Beo” Wolfe flew an F-35 over the crowd, wowing young and old with the speed and maneuverability of this fighter jet.
The F-35 Demo Team arrived in Lakeland, Florida on Monday ahead of Sun ‘n Fun, which kicks off the airshow season. Sun n’ Fun TV interviewed Wolfe, a U.S. Air Force Pilot, asking her about the favorite aspects of her unique job. Wolfe said her favorite aspect of a show like this is the ability to inspire the youth and future generation of aviators.
Immediately after landing the impressive aircraft, she began talking to students. When asked if being able to talk and inspire the young people involved in aviation programs or interested in flying, Wolfe said, “you see the impact right in front of your face, which is not something normal combat pilots get to see.”
Wolfe showed off her flying skills as well as the capabilities of the aircraft. The F-35 also did a heritage flight with a P-51, combining the sleek design and speed of a modern fighter with the iconic Warbird in the sky.
The demo team will show off their skills again at Sun n’ Fun on Wednesday night at the airshow.
