Delta Air Lines on May 20 resumed its daily nonstop service
between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Tel Aviv, Israel,
the carrier announced Tuesday. Flights will operate with Airbus A330-900neo
aircraft.
Delta, along with other carriers, temporarily suspended
flights after a missile fired May 4 by Yemen’s Houthi rebels landed near
Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
The decision to resume the route “follows an extensive
security risk assessment by the airline,” Delta said in a statement. The
carrier will continue to monitor the evolving security environment and assess
operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports.
United Airlines continues to suspend service on its route
between Newark Liberty International Airport and Tel Aviv, with its twice-daily
service removed from sale through June 12, the carrier said in a statement.
“We continue to closely monitor the situation and will make decisions on
resuming the service with a focus on the safety of our customers and crews.”
American Airlines suspended its JFK-Tel Aviv service after
the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas
attack on Israel. It had not resumed the route since and has not announced
a restart date.
