A single-engine aircraft had to make an emergency landing on a road in Gainesville, Georgia.
The aircraft is a 2010 Beechcraft Hawker G-36 (N229TT) registered in Lexington, Kentucky, according to 11Alive. The police stated that the aircraft crashed into multiple vehicles and caused minor injuries. The aircraft took off from the Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport (GVL) at around 12:05 p.m. before landing on Browns Bridge Road in front of a Golden Corral, according to WYFF4 News.”We lost our engine taking off out of Gainesville and realized, tried to glide back, did everything by the book, but realized we weren’t gonna make it back with how far out we were, so we came down the road,” said the pilot, Thomas Rogers.RELATED STORIES:Passengers sue Airbus after sudden altitude drop on JetBlue flightPilot, trooper killed as Bell 407 helicopter crashes during Arizona active shooter responseThe Hawker hit three aircraft and dislodged a fuel tank into the back of an SUV, according to Fox News. The two occupants of the aircraft, a pilot and a student pilot, were not seriously injured and remained on-site to assist investigators while two other individuals were transported to a nearby hospital with minor indivduals.
“The fact that this plane came down, did not strike any power poles, any power lines, and only hit three vehicles is absolutely remarkable,” said Gainesville Police Capt. Kevin Holbrook.
