American Airlines in partnership with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.K. Department for Transportation has launched a new process that allows customers traveling from London Heathrow to Dallas-Fort Worth for a connecting flight to clear U.S. customs at the arrival gate, the carrier announced Tuesday.
Once cleared, customers can proceed to their connecting flight without reclaiming and rechecking their checked baggage or passing through TSA security.
The program follows a pilot launched earlier this year that allows Dallas-Fort Worth customers traveling to London Heathrow to connect to non-U.K. destinations via Terminals 3 or 5 without having to go through a security screening a second time, according to American.
The carrier is looking to expand the program, dubbed One Stop Security, to additional flights and U.S. airports.
