All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines in September will begin operating “revenue-sharing flights” between Japan and Singapore under a joint venture, expanding their current codeshare partnership, the carriers announced Thursday.
The airlines also are looking to offer enhanced reciprocal benefits for their loyalty program members, including the ability to earn miles on an expanded number of booking classes on ANA and SIA flights. Each also is working to “align corporate programs to bolster the offering to business travelers.”
Subject to regulatory approval, ANA and SIA also intend to expand their joint venture to include other markets beyond Japan and Singapore, including Australia, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.
ANA customers currently have access to 25 destinations across Singapore’s network, up from 12 previously, according to the carriers. SIA customers can connect to 34 destinations across ANA’s network, including ANA’s domestic flights to 30 destinations in Japan, up from nine previously.
